West Lane Schoolhouse

Around here it is known as the Peter Parley Schoolhouse.  An early 19th century writer of children's books, Samuel Goodrich, attended school here and wrote under the name of Peter Parley.

The one-room school was built around 1756 and was in service until 1916.

The one room school is such an historic part of our past. This school was in use for a very long time.

It looks like it has been well cared for.

Imagine going to school here! I can't believe how long this little schoolhouse was in service. 160 years is a long run!
