Wellfleet Oysters

The harbor below the house I am renting this week is home to a great number of oyster farms.  At low tide, trucks drive out to the oyster racks:  rows of mesh containers suspended just above the seafloor so the oysters can soak up the tidal nutrients.  The farms go on for miles.  This is just one small section.

A very different way of life.

I have never realized there were oyster farms like that.

Considering how many fresh oysters are sold in restaurants...glad to see where some of them come from. I have also seen some in Apalachicola FL.

Interesting photos. Not often we see boats and trucks sharing the same place. Hope the oyster farmers are successful.

Oh, ooh. Fresh raw oysters. I will try to remember the name Wellfleet if I even travel again and want to stay somewhere. What a delight that would be.
