About a dozen utility boxes on Hartford's Franklin Avenue were painted colorfully last month.
This one is in front of Naylor Elementary School.
Jose was very proud of this one.
Monique and her brother Choice were not afraid of the huge insect.
This box was keeping an eye on the young woman walking on the opposite side of the street.

I really like this art work on the utility boxes. Unfortunately it hasn't caught on in my city.
These are great. What a good idea to paint these utilitarian boxes.
I definitely prefer the crayons. This new canvas for art is a HUGE improvement over the utilitarian look of those boxes without a mural.
they look so much better like this!
They look good though too much disguise might make things difficult for the engineers coming to fix things.
I also prefer the crayons even if the others are not bad.
I love the crayons version!! So unique and unlike anything I have ever seen!

These are lovely and so colorful!
I really love this creative idea! The city is filed with lights and colours. That crayon box is beautiful, I guess my favourite. But the last picture is wonderful with de kid and your perfect caption, like it a lot! :)

I like the idea and the works!
I just saw a similar post by RedPat in Toronto and I love this idea! The crayons are my favorite too.
These are terrific and what a wonderful idea!! Great, fun captures as always, Jack! You do start my day with a smile and a giggle!! Thank you!!
I love that box of crayons!
A very cool project that I think many communities are engaging in. They do make perfect canvases, don't you think? The crayon box made me smile. Thanks, Jack, for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
This is a great idea. Hope it makes its way up here. btw Choice... great name!
Very cool love the crayons!
Those are awesome. It would be nice if more places did that.
I want to go back to primary school now.
They look much more fun than plain old grey or green boxes, though if I had one on my street I might want a say in what it looked like. The crayon box is good, I think, because it looks less like graffiti than some of the others.
Very colourful indeed. I particularly like the last one.
This is a wonderfully creative project. Perfect for displaying the work of local artists. Thank you for the post.
nice ones!!
there were a lot around boston painted nicely too..
Oh, I have been wishing we would do that here. These are really great. Quite a few cities have participated.
I see it doesn't only happen here.
These are clever in their artwork. Nothing like that around here, though.
These are wonderful! And so creatively done.
Great shots with well chosen people. I think the first one is my favorite.
What a great idea. I wish my city had more public art like this. My fav you ask? Why the Crayola's of course!
