Capewell Horse Nail Co.

The 1900-vintage Capewell Horse Nail Co. building has been abandoned for decades.
There is currently a proposal to spend $26 million to redevelop the structure into 72 apartments.

Here's hoping!

The September theme for City Daily Photo bloggers is "Rust and Ruin."

It truly looks like it should be demolished. Just saying.

No demand for horse nails these days, I suppose. I can see it's going to take a considerable investment to make it an attractive building.

This takes care of the theme. Are these steps to nowhere?

Great "rusty" shot for the theme day. Like you, I hope they won't let it go totally to ruin! I bet this would be a neat place to live.

If it's ever redeveloped, I hope you'll share some photos. Neat shot of the fire escape, Jack.

So good!

I think they might have to replace that fire escape.

Hopefully the conversion to residential use will occur. I wonder what they will call it. Horse Nail Flats?

Perfect for the theme. I also like the view looking up.

I always feel a little sad that everything gets turned into apartments. Great choice for theme day - which I forgot again.

It looks like it will make a fine apartment building! Solid brick with lots of windows and probably good solid floors - better than many new builds.

I love a good and rusty fire escape! Unfortunately around here, there are far too many abandoned buildings that are in dire need of a reno!

Terrific shot for the day, Jack, but I do hope they don't continue to abandon the building!

Oh well my hat down to you Sir.

(But, I have to say I'm ever so slightly disappointed: you didn't manage to get anyone to pose for you? No squatter? Not even a stray cat? :-))

Definitely a good shot for the theme. I do hope the proposal goes through!

It doesn't look attractive but maybe they could renovate it well. It has huge windows. A good shot for the theme anyway.

I like the lines!

A reno with a modern-industrial feel, no doubt?!

Wonderful abstract pattern in this capture. Thanks for your kind words.

Zigzag stairs on a grid, and a bit of rust - great capture of the theme.

I cannot remember the last time I have seen a fire escape. Their form and pattern have always interested me. Good choice.
