This is one of my favorite places on High Ridge Avenue, one of Ridgefield's swankiest streets. The owners are a retired IBM executive and his wife, who have been very generous donors to the library and many other nonprofits, including those for the arts, technology and youth.
Big and beautiful as this house is, it is not the biggest or fanciest to occupy this site. Fifty years ago a grand house built for a wealthy New York City banker burned to the ground here. This house and some of its current neighbors were built on the property.

It's like two regular houses squished together...and then there are more wings off to the back! Wow.
Impressive.
I like its style.
This is a lovely house, but far too large for me. I would need a riding vacuum cleaner. It must have been built before air conditioning with all those large porches.
