Tuning

The musicians were tuning up before last night's concert at the
Naples-Concert-Hall-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named-Because-Photography-is-Prohibited.
(I agree with the prohibition during a performance, but an unobtrusive iPhone photo
during tuning seems pretty innocent to me.)

The first piece was Strauss' Also Sprach Zarathustra.  After intermission, Emanuel Ax was
the soloist for Brahms' Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in B-Flat Major.

Looks like a wonderful concert hall. We have the same rules but i have a few before and after shots, too. We have Friday morning concerts for the "gray hairs" which I really like. Very convenient. Music is good for the soul, don't you think?

A great capture for the day and I, too, can almost hear them tuning up! Wish I could have heard to whole concert!! Thanks for sharing, as always, Jack! Hope you have a great weekend! Enjoy!

A great 'spy' shot, Jack! i don't know what the problem would be to have a pic before the performance.

I'm with you on that one! Good job!

I agree with Tanya, the B&W works wonderfully. Lovely capture, Jack.

Photographing during tuning's one thing, but definitely not in performance. I like the musical choices, and I've seen Emmanuel Ax perform here once.

I agree completely. The SLSO forbids photography, video and audio recording. What a bunch of old poops. Those rules are a challenge, not a commandment.

Ax playing the Brahms concerto? Sweet.

Wish, oh wish, my hearing was good enough to enjoy a classical music concert. And yes, can't see the harm in a quick shot before the performance.

It catches the action nicely without your being a total bad boy.

Music to my ears, Jack, that you sometimes bend the rules. ;)
