This one city I would LOVE to see with my own eyes. I've read about the siege of Dubrovnik and the incredible people who endured it.

I would love to go here some day. I watched a travel show recently about traveling in this area and thought everything I saw was so beautiful and so interesting.
Really amazing roof tiles! Dubrovnik is still known here by its Latin and Italian name of Ragusa.
Did you see the map on the wall just outside the town gate that shows the location of each bomb or rocket that landed in Dubrovnik during rhe recent war? It is amazing that the town is as charming as it is today with all of the damage it suffered.
Dubrovnik is a city I will visit one day, this year I came only until Rovinj...

Judging by all the red there was a huge amount of damage! Interesting that the colour has changed so much - must be a different source of raw materials.
I've been thinking of Croatia for a while now and of course there you go and remind me that I need to consider it seriously with these lovely shots!

My parents visited just before all the trouble kicked off, Jack. I remember them watching news of the siege and destruction in disbelief. My mother was delighted to hear news of the reconstruction and loved your photo.
It's sobering to see the numbers of red tile roofs. Clearly those high city walls can't keep trouble out. But it looks like a beautiful old city in a pretty setting.
