Spring Training

 The Boston Red Sox conduct spring training at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers.

It is a noisy environment with loud music and party-like festivities.

The woman who sang the Star-Spangled Banner forgot the words.  

The crowd jumped in and sang it loudly.

The Red Sox beat the Atlanta Braves 7 - 3.

The interior of JetBlue Park looks like historic Fenway Park in Boston, where the Red Sox play.  It even has an old fashioned scoreboard with employees changing the scores with hanging boards between innings (though in Fenway the staff does it from behind instead of coming out and climbing ladders).

A young fan was happy to pose with Wally, the mascot.

Blue Store

 Palm Avenue Grocery is a neighborhood convenience store in Fort Myers.

It also called the Blue Store (for obvious reasons).

The muralist is Juan Pablo Almonacid JP.  I haven't been able to learn much about the artist.

I hung out around Riverside Park and Benson Grocery in Bonita Springs and photographed people.

Eight Years Old

 

I was in Connecticut over the weekend for a girl's last day as a seven year old and first few days as an eight year old.  The party was at an indoor adventure park.

There was some fire breathing.

Her almost ten year old sister helped with the celebrations.

 Leaving Fort Myers, I followed a truck with colorful cargo for several miles.

The March 1 theme for City Daily Photo participants is "Fire."  I searched my archives and came up with this one.  On one trip to visit the daughter in South Africa, the family (except for me) took a balloon ride.  I don't like heights, so I stayed on terra firma with a camera.
