Last weekend there were two days of dragon boat races at the Hartford riverfront.
I have seen several blogs showing photos of dragon boat races in recent weeks. So, here are mine!
The theme for September for City Daily Photo bloggers is "Pink." To participate, link your post on September 1 to the CDP theme day page.

cool, i have always wanted to go to tampa where they have the dragon boats on the hillsborough river once a year
That other city, Minneapolis, has this kind of race during their Aquatennial but have never gone; perhaps I should remedy that. Your photos show an expenditure of a lot of energy!
I've seen such races in french Polynesia; Always very strong and impressive!
great shots of the races...feel like i'm there! have a super weekend :)
The only job I would like on this boat is yelling at the others to row faster! :)
Nice shots, Jack.
And yours are very good, Jack. Crystal clear.
Wonderful shots Jack. Love how colorful they are.
Very nice, Jack. Super action shots. I like the last one best 'cause it shows how these guys are putting all their energy into rowing!
I'd rather be playing golf than rowing, though!
And yes, those are the kitties (rascals)! :)
What fun to see. I kind of wish they would do something like this on Tempe Town Lake. I'd go out to watch.
Great action shots, Jack! Those people work so hard.
Great action pictures, the last one is even funny!
When I read the title, I thought of a photo with Chinese dragon boats :)
Great action photos, Jack!
How fun, Jack!! Great action shots indeed! Wish I could see one in person, but your captures are the next best thing! Hope you have a fun weekend!! Enjoy!
I've some family members who do this and I can only admire from afar. These guys look like they are working hard! Terrific energy in your photos (Alas, I was supposed to be on vacation, but my company had work for me, hence my toiling away in Europe:)
King of Reflections even caught some nice ones in these shots! I've never seen one of these races; it looks pretty amazing. We have Native American and First Nation paddle events each summer - one just ended - where tribal groups in traditional canoes paddle to one central tribal location for a big gathering, stopping along the way for overnight gatherings at different tribal centers. This year they came from all over Puget Sound and Vancouver Island to a location on the Pacific Coast, central Washington. Each year the event draws more paddlers. While the dragon races are sprints, these are long distance, multi-day events (and many of the canoes are simply gorgeous).
You've got some cool reflections and action/effort shots here. I'm tired just looking at them but love the vibrant colours!
They look a good deal more professional than those I saw in Leeds!
They had the annual dragon boat race weekend here some weeks ago. It brings out a lot of people, and raises a tremendous amount for charity in the process.
Terrific shots!
Great shots Jack - wonderful examples of synchronised teamwork; no room for individual precious egos here!
Swish swish ... I can almost hear those oars as they move as one. Great Dragon-Boat pics Jack.
Oh I wish I were that fit. Nice shots.
Nice action shots. I can almost feel the energy being exerted.
Re: Native Americans vs. First Nations. I make a distinction as they're called First Nations peoples on the other side of the Canadian border.
FYI, if you didn't already know, CDP is alive and ready for "Pink." I just went to the CDP home page to link your "Pink" announcement and found a post saying they're back.
Nice capture of the action and the colours.
If I ever were a policeman, I'd like to "drive" that boat!
God bless you!
Cezar
Great action shots, Jack! And the colours on the water surface are really nice.
Great action shots! People have so much fun at these events.
Brilliant shots here Jack, you can see just how much effort they're putting in there by their expressions.
Great action shots Jack!
