Union Station

Amtrak trains come through downtown Hartford a dozen times each day.  The train station is a brownstone Richardsonian Romanesque structure from 1889.  At the near end, Hot Tomatoes operates a bar and restaurant.

I think almost every city has a union station.

Nice photo - and from a very different angle than I picture when I think of the train station.

Is Union Station the most popular name for RR stations? They are all over.... the North anyway.

One of my dreams would be to cross United States on an Amtrack Train, from East to west..

The Northeast is fortunate to have passenger rail service.

We just love visiting train stations when we are in the States. Been on Amtrak a few times but not in New England. Nice shot.

It seems rather empty. But it's a nice-looking station. I remember Union Station in Los Angeles as a kid. Wonderful place!

I do like that older section of the complex!

It looks clean and welcoming. The news out here is that Amtrak is slowing down East Coast trains today because the tracks are getting so hot. Sounds like summer hasn't been treating you very nicely.

Where did the term Union Station originate? We have one, as does Chicago and Kansas City. Inquiring minds want to know.
