Fireworks!

The reason I went to the riverfront last Thursday was to view the fireworks and to practice photographing them.  The previously scheduled July 4 fireworks had been postponed because the water levels were dangerously high.

I wanted to catch fireworks cascading over the Hartford skyline, but I was too close to the barges where the fireworks were ignited, so most of the fireworks were too high in the sky.  But, here are a couple of images that turned out OK.  I learned a few things about photographing fireworks that I can use next year.

Wonderful firewok shots and spectacular reflections on water on the previous post. Well done, Jack.

They look fabulous to me. In the first shot it looks like a large neon palm tree is growing over Hartford.

Your night shots are wonderful. One thing that is fun about photography is that you can always learn/try something new. Love the results here, Jack.

You have night photography down pat. I tried to photograph fireworks on July 4. Your photos are better than mine. Well done.

Knowing where to position oneself to photograph fireworks can be difficult because you don't know exactly where and how large they will be until they occur, and by then it is too late to move.

You are now ready for next year, assuming that they do not change the location or trajectory of the fireworks.

You done good!

There's an old saying that goes, "Live and learn." And I've tried to follow that advice but found that the more I lived the more I learned and and the more I learned the more I forgot, so I thought what the heck just go with the flow.

I think your pics are excellent.

Bravo! Now write down what you learned and put it somewhere where you'll find it the next time there are fireworks. Or are you one of those clever over 40 types who actually manages to remember things?
