Asylum Avenue Baptist Church

This small Baptist church in the Gothic Revival style was built in 1896.

Yes.  I did wait for the pedestrians to space themselves across the front of the church.
I was a split-second too quick with the shutter button, but a car was about
to enter the scene from the right and I couldn't wait any longer.

Cars are terrible things, aren't they? There's only three of them, otherwise it would have been a sort of Abbey Road shot. Love it!

Love the symmetrical style of Gothic buildings and this is a beauty Jack. It's a three quarter Abbey Road shot :))

What a wonderful façade! Great architecture.

Growing up, always thought 'asylum' was a strange name for a church.
Abby Road? I guess Paul was really dead. GRIN!

The different stones add to the beauty of this very symmetrical church's facade.

Beautiful old church and that is an interesting name for a street! Your composition is superb as always -- even if that darn cat threatened it!! Have a great week, Jack!!

Superb job on this photo. The battle with traffic is always a challenge in lining up a shot. It's a beautiful old church.

Management, or accommodation, of traffic and pedestrians is indeed a challenge. We have a friend who we travel with who is a retired CEO, but he at times resort to calling and directing people out of his photos.

Very attractive building in its own way. And pretty old for this country. I guess I'll have to look up Gothic Revival 'cause I don't understand the two turrets/towers/whatever on either side. Maybe that's where the put kids who can't sit still during the sermon?

The pedestrians make the good picture great! I have to remind myself to include people and vehicles sometimes. It's just that most people now dress so casually that they aren't always an asset to the shot!

Love that window!

You did pretty well, nonetheless. The front towers look like minarets (I bet no one chants Allahu Akbar in there). The name of the street could not be better for a church.
