Walk?

Walk?  Maybe not yet.

The snow that fell in the winter and the rain that welcomes spring have to go somewhere.  The riverfront parks in greater Hartford are designed to accommodate the usual spring flooding.

This shot is taken from a boat launch on the Connecticut River in East Hartford.  On the Hartford side of the river is U.S. Route 91 and behind it is the Colt building.  Colt was originally a munitions factory, but today it is largely empty except for some artist lofts and some living units.

Hahaha...Oh MY! I guess you could take a canoe out and flip the sign around. Wouldn't want someone to "obey all signs" in this case:)
That is quite the shot!

... and keep the ammo dry!

Colt? THE Colt? Looks like a pretty nice place to live in if it isn't all to close to the big road.
Did you mean swim?

With that dome, I thought you'd tripped off to Moscow! :)

Conjures up some memories of growing up in Illinois in a town on the Mississippi River. Everyone prepares for the spring flood.

Not really the right moment for a walk...

I guess I too would pass on this invitation. Pity I no longer have a canoe though.

We, too, have flooding all over the state of Minnesota almost every spring.

One will have to wait a bit with going for walks!

Glad that this is designed taking spring floods into account. At the enf of winter here we saw the banks of the Mosel river in areas which were not designed for it and it looked so sad...
The "walk" sign is very amusing though!
God bless you!

Fabulous shot - hope no homes are close to that water.

Well, I am encouraged that there is water rather than snow....

Pulling for your team on Monday....

I have read a bit about the history of Colt in Hartford. Can't remember much, though.

This is a very nice composition...when the photo came up I immediately thought, "alligator!" Well, I do live in Florida, and that's what we think when we see something big floating down a river!

Sheesh!

Break out the boats!

The union dome was part of a munitions factory? Kalashnikov, not Colt, right?

I thought this beautiful building on the other side was a Russian church!:)

What a fun shot!
Glad to know this is a normal occurrence and no damage was caused.
