The company is housed in an 1876 Victorian structure above the Connecticut River in East Haddam, 35 miles downriver from Hartford. It is open nine months of the year, closing only in the winter.
Most of the performances are musicals. The original performances of The Man of La Mancha, Shenandoah and Annie all took place at Goodspeed before going on the Broadway.

I've heard of the Goodspeed, how nice to have it so close. Looks like a wonderful place to relax and watch a musical.

This looks like the perfect atmosphere for a musical such as Showboat. More so than Hair or Rent.
Sharon, Julie, Julie's mother and I have season tickets together for the touring Broadway shows, which is always an enjoyable evening.
Oh I loved watching old musical movies, and Show Boat with Howard Keel and Ava Gardner was one of my favorites, they really knew how to make a musical in those days! Oh heavens that makes me sound so old haha! I'm not really!! It's a beautiful building Jack, I wish I was there to go and see the show.
Love the bunting. Nice to see an old opera house that's still in operation. I'll have to dispatch SDP staff to shoot the SRQ opera house. (Just operas play there.)

What a great building! We don't see that many large wood buildings here - they are usually brick.
Now of course I'm curious about the inside...
Hartford is lucky to have such a place nearby. I'm sure you and yours have been there many times. We have a nice theater here, too, but we've never been there. I dunno why, something about me "acting up."
Re your comment on Ocala..."wimpy"? I guess that's 'cause your Harley is more macho, right? :-) Next time your roar through Ocala, you'd better take me for a ride!

Out of all of my years living in Connecticut I have never gone to the Goodspeed Oprea House. From your entry it looks like it's about time.
