Ridgefield's Town Hall is quite welcoming. This oversized white Adirondack chair currently sits in front. The yellow decal on the back -- "Compassionate Ridgefield, It's Who We Are" -- says it all.
The decal's image is of the Cass Gilbert fountain, a symbol of the town.
An exhibition of paintings of women working in Town Hall, by 23 different Fairfield County artists celebrates the centennial of women's suffrage in Ridgefield. One of the faces is of Alice Paul, a suffragette and longtime Ridgefield resident who was an author of the Equal Rights Amendment.
The Town Hall is the hub of this busy town, whether on quiet normal days . . .
. . . or on days when festivals like "We All Shine On" are drawing folks into town.

Good for Alice Paul. The Equal Rights Amendment continues to have profound influence on all our lives. As one of the authors of the ERA she should have a special place of honor.
