Snapping Turtle

A very big turtle was on the side lawn.  I surprised her and she surprised me.  She is a female snapping turtle, who somehow managed to climb high above the little stream behind my property.  She had dug holes in the lawn to lay eggs.  I roped it off so the guy who mows the lawn doesn't disturb that area.

Good of you to do so. They are a faster animal than you would expect.

How kind you are. I’m sure she’ll be grateful.

It will be fun if you get to see the babies heading back to the water.

Good for you, Jack. Snapping turtles are not to be messed with, but also need as much protection as they can get.

I suppose one thing interesting about posting photoblogs is to see what arouses other people, and seeing how they react. But maybe I am wrong. This photo of the snapping turtle set me off on a vivid memory.....Which is too long to tell. You might be deluged with anecdotes if people let loose. So we say, or at least I do, thanks for the photo!
