The Race for the Cure

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure has raised about $2.2 billion so far.
The Komen foundation reports that about three-fourths of the proceeds from each
race stay in the local community to support breast health
communication and outreach activities.

One-fourth goes to the national organization to support breast cancer research.

I think this runner was the first female finisher.

This woman was the third place winner in the breast cancer survivor
category.  She was also the first finisher in her age category.

Some young kids -- like these two -- ran as hard as they could to the finish line.

Some of the runners were remarkably fit.

I can't remember why I took a photo of this runner.

Some good action shots, Jack. I think Kathleen (#489) is meditating as she finishes. As a runner, I can tell you that I never finished a race in a meditative state unless it was to meditate briefly on the refreshments I was going to enjoy after I finished.

The only thing pink in our weekend was the color of the spoon Julie used at the frozen yogurt shop near our house.

Nice photos, mi amigo. I was getting concerned about you, though, until I saw the last one. Glad to know you're still free of memory loss.

All the runners look fit and determined.

I don't think I've ever seen so many people without an ounce of body fat.

Another beautiful action series, Jack!
The last picture is certainly an accidental shot :)

You're capturing the sense of exertion with these shots, Jack!

Always fun to be out and about shooting a sporting event! That last shot must have been an accident. Thanks for your kind words, Jack. It's great to be back! Slowly but surely.

i like that pink bra!!
im so impressed by the running skills of so many people. i finished at the same time as a lady of 77 years old when i ran this past sunday. then i found out she has been running the amsterdam half marathon for the past 20 years. im not even half her age... and cant do that!

Kudos to them. I can walk, but not run. I like the concentration on the little boy's face. And the last lady's smile - it was the smile, Jack.
