Out of the Jurisdiction: Hockey

While I was in Columbus, I bought a third row ticket to a game between the
Columbus Blue Jackets and the Philadelphia Flyers.

I tried some photographs of the action with my little compact camera.

The Blue Jackets won 3 to 2 in overtime.  That goal was at the other end, so I didn't catch it.

A kind of event that would be nice to photograph. You did it very well!

Action shots at athletic events are hard to capture because of the fast action. I've never been very successful; you did a great job. I often visit Jim Klenke's post at http://www.terrelldailyphoto.com Recently he has posted other kinds of shots but look at his older posts. Usually, at least 90% of his photos are of sports events and he's gotten really, really good at it over the last couple years.

I love that shot of the goalie, Jack! I love a hockey game - even played it in high school.

Regarding your comment at my blog yesterday, I imagine some good buskers make a good deal of money at these events on tips, but they have to balance that out against the costs of travel and those parts of the year they're not performing.

Overtime games can be very exciting...although frustrating too.
