And following up on yesterday's image of a great blue heron with a fish, a great egret demanded equal time to demonstrate its own fishing prowess.
There has been very little rain for weeks in southwest Florida, so the usual shallow lakes and ponds are drying up. It is almost literally "catching fish in a bathtub" for the local shorebirds.

Nice of them to pose for you like that.
It's their swallowing prowess that always amazes me.
What a location that you have, Jack.
Flipping it around in a good show.
These birds are great hunters anywhere, and dry conditions don't give the fish much of a chance. It has been dry here also. Our wetlands are drying up and rivers running low.
Good shots, Jack.
I'm betting he swallowed that quickly
Golly, isn't it beautiful?
