Yellow Dragonfly

While I was (im)patiently waiting for yesterday's great blue heron to do something interesting, several dragonflies swirled nearby.  I was able to catch this yellow dragonfly as it paused on a stick, but the black and red dragonflies were too quick for me.  There is always another day . . .

I never seem to be able to catch them. They don't settle for long!

They don't make it easy for you, do they? But when it all goes right it's very satisfying.

Wonderful photo of this guy. Dragonflies are the most successful hunters being successful on their strikes over 90% of the time, but their life is not easy as they are also on the menu for other creatures, especially birds. Nature is endlessly fascinating.
