Great Blue Herons Have Tongues

 I watched for an hour but the darned bird never went fishing or did anything interesting.


But I did learn that great blue herons yawn.  And they pant.  And they have long, sharp, pointed tongues.

This Great Blue Heron was probably resting after his long flight from South Dakota. Those are still fine portraits of this bird.

It showed you its tongue! That's probably more unusual and photo worthy than fishing. I've never seen a heron's tongue before.

Yes, Who knew? Tongues. Well, I suppose some ornithologists know that. But I personally have never seen a heron tongue. Good post! As usual.
