No Names

A couple of days ago, my camera and I were walking on Albany Avenue in the North End, the heart of Hartford's African American community.  This young woman wanted to know why I was taking pictures, so I told her about my blog.  She let me take her photograph, but she didn't want to give her name.  Nor did the other people who lined up for their portraits while I was taking Ms. No Name's photo.

Great portraits, Jack! You must have tons of charm to get people to warm up to you so you can take such wonderful shots.

Seriously Jack I have to follow your lead more, I see so many interesting people around Perth...it's a curse being so shy :)) fab series of 'anonymous' portraits.

These are terrific, Jack!! I feel the same way as Perth, I'm going to have to try taking some "people" shots one of these days! You are an inspiration!!

Your portraits have taken on a life of their own, Jack. You have really expanded in this area and this is a delightful series of photos. Are you trying any of these in b/w?

Keep-em coming.

These portraits make me happy even though I'm not very happy today (re. plumbing).

I have about 100 mugs. How many do you have?

These three photos made the trip to Albany Avenue extremely worthwhile.

That last one is an especially sweet portrait.

It's funny, but I often have people ask me to take their picture and then they pose. Why? They'll never see the photo...

I wouldn't have given you my name or let you take my photo Jack. I hate it. Much prefer being behind the lens. THese folks seem to enjoy it.

Awesome portraits Jack. I know this area and I miss it dearly. Hartford Is my home and it always will be no matter were I live. I grew up with the young lady in the picture hugging the guy, we both grew up in Bellevue Square. I've been gone for over 30 years, I now reside in Houston, Tx however, I miss my home.
