Chancel

The pews and kneelers in the nave of the Trinity College Chapel do not have all of the carvings. These are some of the carvings in the chancel.  The animals in the circles form a "bestiary."

You thought we were done here, didn't you?

I know what you mean. There's so many details to photograph in a place like this that you could go on for a few weeks more.

I must learn not to jump to conclusions. So happy that you are continuing this series; it's too beautiful to ignore. I wonder hpw many carvers/artisans worked on these carvings?

Excellent photographs of a fascinating place. Thanks for sharing them. I'll need to visit these places in Hartford some time.

Beautiful work. It would be so good to be able to see and meet the people who did this work.

So...do they seriously expect people to be paying attention to the sermons in this chapel?
I'd be too distracted by all the cool carvings!

Or perhaps the woodcarver has set out the whole cast of The Canterbury Tales, with a few extra characters of his/her own invention.

These wonderfully intricate wood carvings remind me of some of the most talented ateliers of fashion houses and their hand-stitching, embroidery, lace-making phenomena
