I'm back. Dirty clothes have been washed, dried and put away. Mail has been sorted and bills have been paid. Chores are up to date. So, last night I went out with my camera.
Last year Hartford erected an ice skating rink in Bushnell Park for two months in the winter. It was so successful that it has been doubled in size this year. It will be open most of the winter months. When I visited Monday night, there were about 50 skaters at all times. Many of the kids renting skates told me that this was their first time on ice skates. (It kind of looked that way . . . )
For the next couple of days, I will post some pictures of skaters.

welcome home! you are so efficient.
this was a great way to spend a mild evening in december.
This is really nice! I showed a shot of one of Toronto's rinks yesterday. It's not nearly as big though.
Welcome home Jack. Nice picture!
You are ambitious to go out and take photos so soon after your arrival back. Maybe staying up by taking photos in the evening is a good way to transition back to US time and get over jet lag.
Welcome home. Believe it or not, there are a couple of these ice rinks set up here in the desert. It probably costs more here to keep that ice frozen than it does there. However, it's been so cold here the last few days...maybe not.
sounds like you made the Santa good list:

We have such an ice rink too every year.. with problems to keep it efficient, as it's quite warm to have ice here! :o)
I'm glad to see you back!
Welcome back from your travels Jack, hope you had a fabulous time..Love the ice rink shot, wish we had one here in Perth..what are the chances..zero, zilch, nada!! Oh well will have to lay back on the beach instead haha!
Oh, yes, WELCOME home, Jack! I, too, hope you had a wonderful trip! Love your capture for the day! Everyone seems to be having a great time. We have a skating rink that is set up each winter at a beautiful park in Bellevue and it's been fun to see the pictures from there on the evening news the past few days! Hope you have a great day!

I think this is a fabulous way to get kids outdoors in winter!
We spent every winter evening and weekend out skating when I was a kid! Great to see.
Groan, how many times did I fall flat on my backside?!! This is going to be fun!
I've been meaning to head to the crown center ice arena, I will watch your photos and learn your technique.
btw, I agree with you about honoring our retirees.
Welcome back and looks like fun!
Welcome home Jack and congrats on your post-holiday organisation!
A great night shot of the skaters. Sadly our climate isn't cold enough for skating rinks, so will enjoy your photos instead.
Looks like fun! Looking forward to your other shots.
I'm sure central CT is frozen on many more days of the year than we are. This is much more in your culture than ours. Nice shot, BTW. Good motion and perspective.
Welcome back Jack, with this great funny action shot.
Soooo....did you also take your skates?:)
No ice rink here this year, so we have to watch...
Glad to see this activity supported by the community! I cannot imagine a childhood without an outdoor skating rink...some of my best memories!
