Skating in Bushnell Park

I'm back.  Dirty clothes have been washed, dried and put away.  Mail has been sorted and bills have been paid.  Chores are up to date.  So, last night I went out with my camera.

Last year Hartford erected an ice skating rink in Bushnell Park for two months in the winter.  It was so successful that it has been doubled in size this year.  It will be open most of the winter months.  When I visited Monday night, there were about 50 skaters at all times.  Many of the kids renting skates told me that this was their first time on ice skates.  (It kind of looked that way . . . )

For the next couple of days, I will post some pictures of skaters.

This is really nice! I showed a shot of one of Toronto's rinks yesterday. It's not nearly as big though.

You are ambitious to go out and take photos so soon after your arrival back. Maybe staying up by taking photos in the evening is a good way to transition back to US time and get over jet lag.

Welcome home. Believe it or not, there are a couple of these ice rinks set up here in the desert. It probably costs more here to keep that ice frozen than it does there. However, it's been so cold here the last few days...maybe not.

We have such an ice rink too every year.. with problems to keep it efficient, as it's quite warm to have ice here! :o)
I'm glad to see you back!

Oh, yes, WELCOME home, Jack! I, too, hope you had a wonderful trip! Love your capture for the day! Everyone seems to be having a great time. We have a skating rink that is set up each winter at a beautiful park in Bellevue and it's been fun to see the pictures from there on the evening news the past few days! Hope you have a great day!

Welcome home Jack and congrats on your post-holiday organisation!
A great night shot of the skaters. Sadly our climate isn't cold enough for skating rinks, so will enjoy your photos instead.

I'm sure central CT is frozen on many more days of the year than we are. This is much more in your culture than ours. Nice shot, BTW. Good motion and perspective.
