The Gold Building is in the center of the downtown Hartford. It is the worldwide headquarters of United Technologies, a huge global aerospace company. At certain times of the day, the sun reflects off the gold glass onto its neighbor, the classic building at 750 Main Street.
I have shown this effect before, but whenever I am roaming the downtown on a day with good light and see the building shimmering in gold, I have to take another picture.
For other reflecting pictures, go to James' website, Weekend Reflections.
I don't blame you Jack, the dappled light on the sun drenched facade would be addictive! I like the row of square windows atop and the arches below, gorgeous! Have a great weekend!
i wonder what the effect is on the people inside that gold-reflecting building.
Great image Jack! Wonderful.
It's quite remarkable, isn't it? Makes me realize the importance of sunshine...wherever it may fall.
Wow! It's just beautiful. And I love this building in its own right. The arched windows and detailing around the building is really nice!
The effect is wonderful!
"I have to take another picture"--how well I understand and enjoy that very same feeling, Jack. Whether it's when someone else takes another picture and posts it or when I myself do that same, I enjoy it!
Now that is gorgeous. I photographed a very unphotogenic brown stone church downtown once that had similar reflections from a shiny glass high rise across the street. Made a sow's ear into a silk purse! In your case, the building was already beautiful and the reflections you captured just added to the drama!
I would do the same thing. This is just too gorgeous to not take a picture. I love it!
lovely reflections, shadows and light!
What a terrific capture! And what an interesting building! I would do the same thing, Jack, in fact I have done it numerous times down at the harbor or up on our roof -- just can't pass up a chance to get a shot and somehow they're all just a bit different depending on the light etc.
Hope you have a great weekend!
That's a great one! Love the warm feeling.
You are right to insist, this is a wonderful effect...
Great shot Jack, I love the warm colors and those shadows, really a golden building.
Glad you pictured it again, I love this warm golden light.
This building is the beneficiary (petite joke) of the golden light from its neighbor. The result is magical.
Love this one. It seems like the building is made of gold ^_^
Terrific light and shadows.
Well-done! 'Tis a beautiful sight, indeed. I find the fact there's a CVS drugstore there very interesting...it doesn't look anything like the CVS stores here! :-)
Lovely old building. The detailing on older structures can be so interesting and wonderful, making the light even better. And there are always those spots, "I have to take another picture." Eye candy!
I understand you feel compelled to take a shot everytime you see this beauty!
Many thanks for sharing Jack!
Have a nice and happy weekend****
Mildred and Cildemer are the same;o)
Fairytale-effect: everything turns into gold. Hard to believe in these times.
This is my first time in Hartford. Love your pictures, Jack.
Well done, I think the photos get better every time we take another shot of the same place.
A beautiful old building made more beautiful by the reflected sunshine. Isn't 'shimmer' a lovely word?
Great shot! I like the lighting!
I can understand that, It really looks like it is made of gold.
Dappled Gold. This is beautiful.
I love the golden shades in your photo, and the light is awesome!
It makes it look cosy!
Very cool! I can see why you always like to shoot this building. It's stunning. (I recognize the CVS pharmacy from a previous post.)
Beautiful golden light on this great building.
Love that dappled light.
Love your image with the fantastic light!
