Impatiens

Hurricane Irene sent an advance party to Connecticut yesterday afternoon, in the form of steady rains.  Even in a rainfall, a wide blanket of colorful impatiens at this Avon home "popped."  To the left of the house, there was an additional acre of impatiens.

I like impatiens, but they might think about some other flowers . . .

ah, jack, don't be 'impatien' with them.
started raining here about 7 last night. it's a strange wet morning in vermont.

Brattcat got in before me haha! they are gorgeous though, we wouldn't be able to have them in an uncovered spot like that, would be too hot. I have been checking the news often since I got back from the walk Jack, got a shock when I saw Hartford on the map right in the line of fire, I so hope all will be well.

I would be very 'patient' walking through the gardens, even in the rain.

I have to agree with you: though gorgeous, I like a garden to be a mix of flowers!

Another beautiful, old house! Yep, I could manage to live there, too! Love all the bright flower colors!

How goes the weather battle?!

Sometimes a grey day can make colours look very saturated - not sure why.. It's certainly a beautiful scene. I am hoping it still looks like that today. You are in my thoughts and prayers and I hope that the storm is not as bad as has been forecast. Stay safe. Hope you don't lose power for too long either.

Well, they certainly are very striking. It would be nice to mix it up a little, I agree.

I have no green thumb at all so if I could grow impatiens I might over do it too! This is just so pretty!

Looking out the window at a scene like that should help people stay inside until the storm passes. Glad that it seems the storm is not a bad as predicted.

I have a friend in Washington DC who was able to sit at home and watch how his sail boat was doing in the Chesapeake by watching the webcam of his marina.

The scene seems so beautyful and quiet, the colorful flowers, the elegant house, and its decorated windows.. hard to imagine how all that will be after Irene..I cross my fingers and think of you!

Gorgeous! What a great shot.
Glad to know Irene is now a tropical storm. Even so, hope there's not much damage in your area.

I'll resist the temptation to comment on your patience, Jack! That bed of flowers to me is very appealing. Beautiful colors, and I love the hanging baskets under the windows.

I always try to think of some other flower for the shady spots but nothing gives colour like the impatiens!
Hope that you are dry and safe.

When I moved to CT I thought Impatiens were the state flower. They can be overdone just like azalea gardens in the spring. Hope you made it through Irene.

This is stunning. I like the stars in each window and also around what looks to be the door.

Glad everything is well your way.

I don't think they should consider anything else. Those impatiens are fantastic!

Impatiens are so pretty, yet hardy....they're really the perfect flower. I swore by 'em when I lived up north. (Alas, my impatiens did not compare in number to those in your pic.)
