World Affairs Council

The World Affairs Council is on Forest Street in Hartford, around the corner from the Mark Twain House and the Harriet Beecher Stowe Foundation.

The building seems scary to me.  I think it is haunted.

Look at all that snow. I think you're right: it IS haunted! Of course, when you're engaged in world affairs, things can get out of hand quickly. I mean, local affairs are bad enough!

Thanks for your nice comment. I've been working on a new website...check it out...

It is very much a work in progress...

I'll start posting occasionally in the near future.

Hope all's well with you.

This house and the two on your links are really stately reminders (or remnants) of a bygone era. I'm glad that they're being preserved.

It is a wonderful building but, I guess it does have that haunted look to it.

I think it looks awesome! A little spooky but really stunning.

I wouldn't want to spend a night in that building.

Well, it does look a bit stern. I'd love to spend the night there and actually try and find out if there is a ghost. Or more than one.

It's like a little castle and I don't know why, but when look at it I think about one of Oscar Wild's novel:)
Happy Sunday Jack!

An unusual building, maybe not scary, but quite unwelcoming.

I like this picture because it's TOTALLY out of time! nothing shows that we're in XXI th century! maybe that's why you find it scary..I find it very inspiring! :)

Interesting looking house. I like all the points at the top!

It sure is a handsome, brick "castle" but maybe I'd also be a little nervous walking up to it at night in the dark.....

What Architecture! All those windows. Beautiful....and tad a bit haunting.

Great building, beautifully preserved... and, of course, wonderfully captured by you -- Let's find out more about whether or not it is haunted!

I do wonder about the architecture and it seems that they put about one dormer window too many on this... Perhaps, the builder was perfecting his "dormer-building skills" or they had a few left over from another site.

It is a nice building, but are you trying to scare us?! :) I wouldn't want to go near it if it were!

It definitely has a creepy feel to it -- perhaps it's the lack of shutters, landscaping and any type of human activity. That being said, I like it against that pretty blue sky and that snow covered evergreen in the foreground.

During the daylight like that, it doesn't scare me that much...but I wouldn't want to go near it at night. I like the background with the blue skies and snow, very pleasing.
