Brown Pelicans

Brown pelicans take pride in their grooming.

Without arms or hairbrushes, that takes some work.

Thank goodness for that long neck, right?

If I could bend like that I'd be the cleanest guy in town.

Pelicans are entertaining. They can also be a challenge to try to photograph as they plunge into the water for a fish.

Those pelicans are always fun to watch, even when they are engaging in their personal "toilet."

I think I need to try that. Hopefully I'll make it to work tomorrow afterwards.

Is this a friend of yesterday's pelican?

Great shot! And, hey. Even with arms and hairbrushes sometimes even the best of grooming routines doesn't accomplish enough.

Terrific nature photography. It's a standout because it's not just a pretty bird, it's a bird's life.

You caught the beast in a fantastic pose. I remember Australian pelicans fondly. I managed to catch shots of them in pretty awkward positions too!

He is darling! Don't they have beautiful coloring? Never noticed it here until I viewed this photo I took... http://palosverdesdailyphoto.blogspot.com/2011/01/theme-day-best-photo-of-2010.html
