Lake Trafford Again

I drove one hour east of Naples to a Collier County preserve in Immokalee, only to discover it was closed.

So, I returned to Lake Trafford, to see what I could see.

There were many double-crested cormorants.  One flew past the end of the pier, where I was stationed.

A couple of airboats went out for their adventures.

A purple gallinule was in the marshy water under the pier.  I tried to get to land so I could take a photograph closer to the same plane, but it moved away.

A little palm warbler kept returning to the pier.  Eventually I had no choice but to push the shutter button.

A great egret found a spot from which it didn't want to move.

The man was fishing.  Why did he keep standing on the prow?  I don't know.

The limpkin kept spearing little oval things and burying them.

And, turkey vultures were plentiful.  One flew low over me.

You may have struck out at Immokalee, but your struck it rich at Lake Trafford. Wonderful photos of these interesting birds. The Purple Gallinule is a great looking bird.

I'm guessing fisherman was looking through the boat's shadow into the water, the better to see fish. But was he just netting them? No way to tell.

That gallinule is a new bird to me.
