Out of the Jurisdiction: Hagia Sophia again

More from the Hagia Sophia.

I like looking up and looking down.

Looking up was rewarded with lovely views, though it would benefit from some restoration.

Looking down was nothing.  When it was reclassified to a mosque in 2020, the floors were covered with boring green carpeting.

And I imaging all the saints have been painted over...hopefully not removed!

Maybe one day it will be restored.

When it first became a mosque in 1453 a number of the "Christian" murals were painted over. Work to restore these has been stopped by the current administration. Terrific photos, Jack.
