I'm going to sneak back to Connecticut to honor Abraham Lincoln on his birthday.
(I haven't yet come across any statues or paintings of Lincoln down here in SWFL.)
This is a portrait in the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, Connecticut. It is by Calvin Curtis, a Waterbury farmer who studied painting with Daniel Huntington, a prominent New York painter who was also a Vice President of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Happy birthday, Abe.

I'd say Curtis is more painter than farmer...excellent work! Happy Lincoln's birthday, and also Charles Darwin's, another man who influenced the ages.
I don't believe Lincoln was popular in SWFL except in the black community. Enjoy celebrating his birthday.
A good portrait.
Makes me remember the Abe Lincoln who used to be a part of our community. He was related to the President, he Lasses away a couple of years ago.
