Ponce de Leon, the Spanish explorer credited as the first European to discover Florida, stands proudly in front of First Citizens Bank on Tamiami Trail in Naples.
Osceola, the brave leader of the Seminoles, stands virtually ignored in the parking lot behind the bank. That seems wrong to me, but I'll leave it to someone more aware than I to put the right label on it.

Maybe Oceola is planning a guerrilla attack while Ponce has his back turned.
Definitely not right.
Needs to be fixed, Jack.
Perhaps a prominent local photographer could bring this to the attention of the First Citizens' Bank to correct this obvious error. I always thought the Native Americans were the first citizens, but what do I know?
It's not right, but often times the victors/conquerors write the history. I remember reading about Ponce de Leon in grade school history, but have no recollection of Osceola.
