Out of the Jurisdiction: Florence

A few days in Florence before going on to the Greek islands.


Ponte Vecchio ia a world famous bridge on the River Arno in Florence.
Everyone photographs it.  So, I did my duty, too.


But Ponte Santa Trinita, the bridge to the west. is stately and elegant.  I prefer it.


My fifth floor room looks over both bridges. 
I shouldn't bad mouth Ponte Vecchio.  It is quite a sight, this time before breakfast.


Then again, Florence is known for its churches.  This one is Santa Maria Novella.
Most Florentine churches, like this one, were built over centuries, so they incorporate architectural features from the Renaissance, classical features, Gothic features, and a few others.


We took shelter in a nearby tearoom from an impressive display of thunder and lightning.
After the storm broke, the streets and sidewalks glistened,
