The musicians were taking too long to warm up, so I started walking through the crowd.
"I am taking photos of faces in the crowd and you have a face. Can I take your picture?"
Alvin Carter, Sr., is a jazz drummer, a long-time favorite in Hartford.
(The beard extends to Alvin's knees, the product of 12 years' growth.)
Owen (above) and Lynn (below) were celebrating their first wedding anniversary.
What a great set of beautiful images Jack.
All of the people in your portraits look relaxed and happy to have their photos taken and to be in a crowd listening to jazz. Great turnout.
Fabulous, summer jazz is one of the best things in life I think!
You did a great job combing the crowd for interesting faces!
Jack! You are so good with people, I wish I could approach people like this. Super series of portraits, looks like it would have been a tres enjoyable evening, love jazz.
You are the best, Jack, and the others have already said it!! A great way, as always, to start my day!! Thank you! Hope your week is going well!! Wish I could have been at the concert!
Looks and sounds like you were at the place to be. Will be passing that capital building in about 2 weeks... Jersey run.
You are so bold. A summer evening's jazz sounds like the place to be.
Everyone comes out looking so good in your shots, Jack!
Wonderful character shots!
This is such a splendid post, Jack, the result of your charming self and your photographer's skills. Thanks! And thanks for your comment at my blog. I appreciate it so much!
That's a creative way to approach people. I may have to, um, borrow the idea.
Awesome portraits, Jack !
Nice portraits (as always). I especially like the lady with the cross earring. Her smile is very warm and welcoming.
You had to do something while you waited for the music and you did the right thing. He does have an impressive beard that's for sure.
Love the portraits, but the first shot is my favorite!
This event had a great turnout!
Another great set. I hope we get to see some music even if we can't hear it...
You've caught three very different approaches to beards here, short, medium, and l-o-n-g. I can't imagine how Alvin deals with his. I'd be catching it in everything I had my hands in (including my drum sticks).
