Jack: Where did you get that tee shirt?
Steve: From a girl friend.
Jack: Your girl friend? I'll bet she is a former girl friend.
Steve: Yes. A former girl friend.
Your dialogue reminds me of a time that I was defending the deposition of a retired employee of my client. He showed up for the deposition wearing a short sleeved, and his forearm had a tattoo that said "Shirley." The deposition included the following exchange with the opposing counsel:
Q: Are you married? A: Yes. Q: Is your wife's name Shirley? A: That's my ex-wife's name. Big mistake. Q: The wife, or the tattoo? A: Both.
