Fenway Park

I went to Boston Tuesday night for a game between the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Angels.

David Ortiz got the Red Sox off to  good start with a first inning home run.
Big Papi is a modest man and never plays to the crowd.

"Hot dogs here!"  I went down below to get an Italian sausage instead.

Fenway Park is a wonderful place to be when the sky is dark and clear.

Some fans have their own special routines when Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline"
is sung in the seventh inning.

The Red Sox have two Japanese pitchers.  When Koje Uehara enters the game in the ninth inning,
it is usually "lights out" for the other team.  But, Tuesday night, Uehara didn't
have his magic.  Angels catcher Chris Iannetta drove in
the lead run with a double on this swing.

The Angels won 4 - 3.  Still, a beautiful evening in Boston.

Great pictures, Jack. You captured the excitement and the spectacle of major league baseball well. I've never been to Fenway and hope to get there someday. Unfortunately it looks like there will be no October baseball this year for either the Sox, Yankees or Mets.

Being from LA area, I am not disappointed in the result. Sorry, Jack. I took Mr LOL to a baseball game in Lancaster, PA. It was the best night ever. Thanks for the reminder :).

Beautiful evening. Another 'Stormy' ending game-wise. The summer's been a struggle for the red hose.
They just can't follow the lead of Ortiz.

I have never been to Fenway, but I have been to Wrigley Field twice. And I am glad that Fenway exists and is still in use, and hopefully it always will be.

It's easy to see in your first show what a modest man Big Papi is .
Yesterday morning I heard Frank Deford on NPR doing a commentary on why hot dogs taste so much better at a ball game than they do any other time. They couldn't come up with a reason....they just do.

Fun shots for the day! Looks like a great game! I agree with Sharon -- hot dogs do indeed taste better at a ball game than any other time!! Hope you have a terrific weekend, Jack, and remember, camera in hand!!

I worshipped at the shrine when I was in Boston - but I didn't get inside so it's fun to see your photos.

Those are some great action shots! Went to my first pro football game last season, I didn't know attending games could be so much fun!

There is nothing like a night at the ball park, Jack! Add a cold beer and some peanuts - wow. I guess you can tell that I love baseball.

That first shot makes you a budding sports photographer.

Fenway's a great park, looking at these shots. Look at it this way: the Red Sox broke the streak and won the Series. At least you're not a Cubs fan.

You caught the action and colors nicely.

I would love to visit that park one day. All of them for that matter.

I don't like baseball, but going to see a game (of any kind) in person is always fun!

I've spent time in Boston only once during an educational seminar, but one of my first stops was the legendary Fenway Park! Great shots, esp of the #1 "Sweet Caroline" song.

I would stand up and sing Sweet Caroline with that fan......if I was still awake! :)
