The Connecticut Ballet visited Elizabeth Park Saturday evening.
This piece -- Ancient Lives -- began with classical museum statues in a posed tableau,
then slowly coming to life. I didn't catch the choreographer's name. The music was by Mahler.
The evening sky became darker as the dance progressed,
and lights made the dancers dramatically red.

Ballet is such a beautiful form of human expression; the dancers work very hard even tho it seems so effortless. What a wonderful evening, Jack!
Stunning composition Stunning location and the descending darkness adds to the drama of the ballet. Oh! and beautifully photographed Jack - Bravo.
OK, now you're finally getting the message. We want to see lots of almost nudity and people jumping around a stage. Merci, mercy. Or maybe Mercy, mercy me.
Keep up the good work! :) Although I'm somewhat surprised you held the camera so steady and defeated the blur.
Very artsy shots Jack. Love the light in the last image.

Excellent photos, Jack, in those difficult lighting conditions... Bravo!
Lovely shots Jack!
Not a big fan of ballet but your shots are sure nice.
Wow, that must have been amazing to see. Such grace!
I do love the ballet and this looks terrific, dramatic and beautiful! Superb captures, Jack! Wish I could have been there!! Hope your week is off to a great start!! Have fun!
Fabulous, Jack! Amazing series.
That is fabulous! I would love to have seen that, Jack!
Lovely idea for a summer's evening entertainment. I wish they'd do that here. Such things aren't easy to photograph - you did well, especially with those lights.
Excellent shots... and from the thumbnail I was wondering if nudity was involved!
Mahler is always welcome as music goes.
I love Mahler but I wouldn't associate his music with classical sculpture. Not much of it is danceable, either, except for the lumpy scherzos in the symphonies. Did you catch what they were playing?
Very graceful forms in these photos and you did a fantastic job capturing the light.
Love your shots. The Elizabeth Park event is really something!
Oh wow! I would have loved to see this.
Excellent series of images Jack.. love the lighting as evening fell.. must admit I did a bit of a double-take too :)
Both the ballet and the photos are nicely done. One look at the muscles on the guy on the right, bottom photo, and you get an idea of the athleticism of ballet.
