Walking Marion Avenue

Marion Avenue is one of Punta Gorda's main streets.  It faces a small park.  I took a walk.

Kitt Moran is a singer and artist who exhibits at Sea Grape Gallery, a cooperative art gallery.

She also takes a turn greeting visitors in the gallery.

Gabrielle works at Carrie's Interiors, next door.  At least she does, if my notes are right.

Judith was further down the street.  She wanted to take her reading glasses off, but I insisted.

A singer and guitar player entertained the midday drinkers at Dean's South of the Border.

He kept on playing over the noise of a drunken heckler from Tennessee.

I didn't interrupt him to get his name.

Naples Preserve

Naples Preserve is a small parcel of untouched natural land within the Naples city limits, 

sandwiched between busy Route 41, a big shopping mall and baseball fields.  

The eco-center is in a distinctive 1960s building.

There is a boardwalk through the preserve.  I saw a lot of gopher tortoises and took several photos,

but gopher tortoises don't make especially interesting subjects -- they look like
brownish black rocks -- so I deleted the pictures.

A lot of the trees are scrub pines with appealing scaly and shaggy bark. There was a plaque for the country's biggest myrtle oak.  I went looking.  About 20 feet away I found a temporary sign informing visitors that the tree fell during Hurricane Irma.

Farmer's Market

 Punta Gorda had a nice little market last Saturday.  I got local honey from John and toffee from Phil.

Just off Interstate Route 75 in Charlotte County, boats go to die.

Day of the Dead?

This painting was outside a store on First Street in Fort Myers.

It looks like the "Day of the Dead" (Día de Muertos) sugar skull figures.

Sorry, I didn't see an explanation. 

Pets on Third

 Third Street South in Naples was the scene of Pets on Third, which begins with a parade (I was at breakfast and missed) and then has lots of milling around.

A mortified poodle.

Pet pythons.

A pet skunk.



I see it every day, but I do not understand treating dogs like babies.

Numerous rescue organizations were represented.
