 There are numerous historical flaws in John Trumbull's huge 1834 painting at Hartford's Wadsworth Atheneum, but it is still an impressive tribute to the start of our country.

Notchland Inn

Notchland Inn is a charming inn in Crawford Notch State Park in northern New Hampshire.  It is surrounded by White Mountain National Forest, and is on the state highway leading to Bretton Woods.

Looking forward to spending the long Independence Day weekend up here.

Hamilton

 

Went to see Hamilton at Hartford's Bushnell Hall Thursday evening.  Excellent performance, amazing choreography.

Days Gone Past

 Remember when dinners meant pulling out the good china and crystal?  

Long gone.  Now they are dust collectors hidden away in breakfronts or cupboards.

The July theme for photographers participating with City Daily Photo is "transparent."

Vault

A vault at the Catholic cemetery I often drive past.  

Some day I should park and wander the grounds.

Carnival

The firefighters parade ended at the middle school, where a carnival entertained young and old.

She has always been competitive, but I thought I taught her not to cheat.

The younger granddaughter thought every ride was "GREAT!!!"

No thank you.  I don't like heights and my stomach is . . . vulnerable.

As expected, the younger granddaughter declared Avalanche to be "GREAT!"  

The older granddaughter barely kept her lunch in.  I'm with her.

Plenty of fun running and sliding around the castle.

Both granddaughters loved the spinners.

Bands

 Some musicians marching with their bands in the parade honoring Ridgefield firefighters..

I regret that I wasn't in position when the fife and drum group and the bagpipers went past.
