Cars on Fifth

One of the big annual events on Naples' Fifth Avenue South is Cars on Fifth.  Oodles of collectible cars are displayed by private owners and dealers.

It is unfathomably crowded and one in a thousand visitors is masked.

(I was one even though double vaxxed and boosted.)

Ready, Set, Go!

The turtle and heron shared the spot comfortably until the heron decided to leave.

We humans should all get along as comfortably as many animals do (unless they are hunter and prey).

Bonita Springs Library

I recently saw a mention of Bonita Springs' public library, new in 2019.  I wondered why I had not seen it.  It is a couple of blocks off the main street.  Much of the town looks like it is right out of 1950.   Not the library.  It looks quite modern and up to date.

There's Gotta Be A Reason

OK, students, start writing.  You have one hour.

Grades will be based on originality.  Deductions will be made if you omit any of the key elements:  who, what, when, where, why and how.  Extra credit if you incorporate Donald Trump into your story.

Power

Photographers in the City Daily Photo group are showing images illustrating the idea of "Power" on February 1.  To see other ways of illustrating the concept, click here.

This 1995 McLaren F1 is the newest vehicle in the Revs Institute collection.  Revs calls it "the ultimate street car of the Twentieth Century."

I shouldn't leave Revs Institute without something about the man who assembled the collection.  Miles Collier II is the grandson of Barron Gift Collier, a wealthy advertising man who assembled huge landholdings in Southwest Florida and built the Tamiami Trail across the peninsula from Naples to Miami.

Miles is an accomplished artist, investor and philanthropist, who inherited his love of sports cars from his father and uncle, Miles and Sam.  Miles II raced Porsches for years.  In 1986 he bought the Ferrari-based collection of Briggs Swift Cunningham and began assembling the collection that is now open to the public as the Revs Institute.
