Wild Bill's Shop

Wild Bill's alone could fill up a year's worth of blog posts.

Brian manages the record store at Wild Bill's.

I would have thought Bill welcomes hippies.  Maybe bikers are his target market.

The hippies are probably hanging out in one of the colorful VW buses scattered around the property.

If there is a plan to the way Wild Bill displays his inventory, I have not discovered it.

Welcome to Connecticut. Now go home.

A Trump supporter at Wild Bill's Shop, Middletown, Connecticut.

He must have gone into the store in search of one of these bobbleheads.
Wacky Wobbler.  You're Fired.

A Movie, a Gallery and Two Cell Phones

Last night I went to Real Art Ways to see an Australian movie, The Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
(Very much recommended.)  RAW is a non-profit art gallery/performance space with a movie theater.

A gallery at one end hangs rotating exhibitions of art works.
A lone woman on her cell phone was framed against some big contemporary paintings.

When I went behind a large, colorful screen, the woman on the cell phone was still there.

Her friend joined her for a selfie while her boy friend sauntered over . . .

. . . to take her to the reception going on at the other end of the facility.

When I got out of the movie, the gallery was closed.

RAW is a great place.  I'm glad I had my cell phone, too.  I kinda like my iPhone photos.

Devonwood

Devonwood is a 25-year old executive neighborhood in the Farmington woods.  I had not been there in several years so I forgot how big and nice the houses are and how each is different.

Cigna

Anthem Inc. has a $48 billion deal to acquire Bloomfield-based health care insurer Cigna.  Hartford-based Aetna also has a $34 billion deal to merge with Humana.  The pending mergers of two big Hartford insurance companies raise competitive concerns nationally and job loss concerns locally.
The Feds have brought lawsuits to stop the mergers.  Time will tell . . .

This is Cigna's architecturally significant headquarters, a 1960 award-winning modernist building designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.  Cigna was going to knock it down a decade ago
but backed down when preservationists screamed bloody murder.

Back in the USA.

Out of the Jurisdiction: So Long!

Susie, Wessel and Willa live in a thatched house on a hillside on three hectares looking over the skylines of Sandton (a major suburb north of Johannesburg and the
burgeoning business center of the region) and Johannesburg.

So long for now, South Africa.  I depart Joburg tonight and arrive back in Connecticut tomorrow.

Hartford Skyline from Riverside Park

Nice of her to stand there.

Gee, a reflection photo wasted on a day when Weekend Reflections is not open.

A few weeks ago, I went to Riverside Park, along the Connecticut River,
to get some Hartford skyline photographs.  Take your pick.

Click here to see other bloggers' interpretations of the theme, My City's Skyline.

Still in South Africa.  Back by the weekend.
