Yesterday we went to the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Connecticut. We wondered if the seven and nine year old granddaughters would get bored. Not at all. Both -- and especially the nine year old -- found numerous art or science displays that interested them.
A photograph by Joel Sternfield fascinated the older one. In the background, firefighters are dealing with a serious blaze, but in the middle ground a fireman is buying a pumpkin.
Mom and Dad explained impressionism and the granddaughter paid good attention.
A room with David Hockney works prompted more discussions.
The science rooms were even easier for the granddaughters to understand and enjoy.
The rooms with paintings that were the winning designs for duck stamps over the years were popular.
