Baker Museum IV: Chihuly Baskets

Chihuly has designed several basket series over the decades, inspired by the baskets made by Native Americans in the Northwest United States that he saw at the Washington State History Museum.

These are from a basket series called Fire Orange Baskets.

The museum displayed Chihuly baskets with Native American baskets.

Behind this collection of Chihuly baskets was a wonderful collection of photographs of Native American men by Edward S. Curtis from the first third of the 20th century.

These are beautiful. I've visited his St. Petersburg FL Hot workshop and his gallery next to it. Fantastic works of aart. Glad to see the Native basketry with his work.

Quite a contrast between his and theirs.
