Grackle

Crow?  Blackbird?  No.  Some time with Google informed me that I had come upon
 a male great-tailed grackle.

Grackle or Grockle is the old name for the Starling down in Devon and Cornwall. They also call tourists "grockles" on account of their habit of descending in great numbers, making a huge mess and then departing. Your bird looks a much more refined individual!
