On Tuesday I took a tour of the Wolfsonian Museum in Miami Beach.
The museum is in a converted 1927 warehouse. The collection was gathered by Mickey Wolfson, a wealthy Miami Beach resident who is captivated by physical objects, machinery and artwork.
An approximate time period of interest is mid-19th century through the 1950s.

Wolfson salvaged a ceiling from a Miami auto dealer and had it refitted into a gallery at the Wolfsonian. The ceiling and the chandeliers have suggestions of automobile parts.
This painting is an imagined landscape of all of the high-rise buildings and towers designed by a prominent Miami architectural firm, with Manhattan's Waldorf Astoria in the center.

I love the ceiling and the blue/golden art.
Nice posting.
Happy weekend from me in Stavanger.
What a wonderful place, Jack!
The exterior of the building is extraordinary enough, but it looks as though the inside is equally diverse from the small selection you've shown us here.
I love that ceiling. This looks like a very interesting place to visit.
What an eclectic collection! A wonderful ceiling.
How great that there are still private collectors showing their treasures.
Looks like a great place to visit. The ceiling is incredible.
That's a very amazing ceiling. I think the automotive connection would have escaped me. The building itself looks like a real collector's piece.
