You've got to admire the Swedes' ability to turn lemons into lemonade. In 1628 the King commissioned a new battle ship, the Vasa. It was top-heavy and designed by someone who had never designed a ship before. On its maiden voyage it sailed for 15 minutes, capsized and sank. 350 years later, the Vasa was found, salvaged and preserved. It is now Stockholm's #1 tourist attraction.

This is another waterfront building and statue. I can't remember what and who they are, either.

Another fine collection of photos. That ship is a real eye opener. I like the angle that you used to take the photo. Is it for sale? It's old but has low mileage on it.

You've covered a lot of ground and a lot of kings along the way. You can't remember them all! I just saw that ship on a travel show. Love those guys in the last photo.

That ship is massive no wonder it sank. Now it is a big money maker. Maybe that was their original plan, planning for the future. :)
That "bad boy" with the girl looks like Jaba The Hut from Star Wars. Perhaps he visited before he made the movie. Lovely Palace photos.
That building that you didn't recognise is the Swedish Riksdag. The Swedish Parliament.

The Vasa is another of those must-see ships despite its ignoble history. And those characters in your last shot are an amazing catch!
