Out of the Jurisdiction: Giant Galapagos Land Tortoises!

The male giant tortoise on the right walked up to the one on the left.  He literally "got in his face."

The two tortoises began stretching their necks for dominance.  Taller wins.  The one on the left got higher and the challenger slinked away.  All in silence, all in slow motion.  A highlight of the trip.

Nice photos Jack. You are really getting close to nature.

Astonishing creatures and what a civilised way to settle scores - though President Assad of Syria would be even more of a problem.

Prehistoric looking things aren't they? I guess males are the same whatever species. ;)

Magnificent picture of the tortoises Jack. Standing next to you, I would be the short necked guy on the right!
