Naples Pier

Swimming.  Sailing.  Sunning.  Fishing.  People watching.
Plenty to do at the Naples Pier.

The Naples Pier has been here since the 1880s when the only way to get here was by boat.

On the first day of each month, City Daily Photo bloggers show photographs based on a theme.
For November, the theme is "landmark."  Click here to see other interpretations.

We do not have piers like this and I would really like one!

Piers of all sizes, shapes, and materials are important to seaside villages and towns. This obviously is an integral part of the city. Your fishing gear?!

The water looks a trifle choppy, and the boats in the background confirm this. The perspective you have used is spot-on, Jack.

Nice to see such an old pier as those in the UK are a threatened species at the moment - everybody wants to keep them but nobody seems to want to provide the money required.

A fine old pier it is. And I like your composition here.

Like what you've done to portray the Pier in this one, Jack.

Looks as if you have a beautiful day ahead of you!
I fondly remember my visits to Naples and the surrounding coast and islands.

Since it's been there that long, it certainly rates as a landmark! Good choice.

An interesting view of a landmark.

I wish we had somewhere to put a pier in Versailles, lol but we don't even have a river... Lovely shot!

And a perfect spot to see a sunset, Jack! Love your shot.

Love this shot. Even if the pier isn't the main focus. :)

Cast out far enough you could catch one of those sailboats, or perhaps a cute swimmer. I can just feel the warmth in this photo.

Good one! Unfortunately, the entire SDP staff forgot about theme day. How is that possible?! Hope you're settled back in and enjoying the "cold" front.

No. Yes. NO! (My dermatologist would chew me out.) Ho hum. YES. Enough to do.

Photographing a fishing equipment to show a landmark is quite an unusual choice, but it works!
It works very well, Jack !

It's a fancy pier!

You know I am going to love seeing that sunshine:). Great shot and what a lovely pier.

You caught it all in this one. I wouldn't mind a little of that warm sun about now though I can't really complain. We've got rain...no snow.

Looks very familiar to what we have here. We are lucky, aren't we?!

I like your perspective in this shot Jack! Great choice for Theme Day.
