Peace Symbol

When the peace symbol was designed in the late 1950s,
did anyone think it would become a sculpture in a high end shopping mall?

Almost looks out of place, doesn't it?

Hmmm. I didn't realize the peace symbol has been around so long. I always associate it with the 70s.

oh i didn't know that, i too thought it was a 70's thing. a few years ago it was popular again. my daughter and all her high school friends were really into it, jewelry, clothing, etc...while she was in high school just a couple of years ago!

It's so big and glossy. Love it.

Well, it would certainly be hard to miss, but then we need all of the reminders of peace we can get these days!!! Probably should wear one around our necks and pass them out wherever we are!!! Thanks, Jack!!

A new kind of life for an old symbol...

Who'd have thought that?

I understand it derives from an even older source.

Probably not, Jack! It is nicely done.

We need to be reminded, but big, orange, and high end shopping center? Maybe I'm just being grumpy but the term "co-opt" comes to mind.

I hope it's a peaceful area.

I think every city should have one.

No, and those people would be horrified. I wouldn't say my reaction is that strong but I dislike commercializing and trivializing the symbol.
